Etter en gjennomgang av Datatilsynet har formuleringen om behandling av personopplysningen fødselsnummer i Nasjonalt lånekort (http://lanekortet.no/brosjyre.htm) blitt presisert, og har nå følgende ordlyd:
"Fødselsnummer er nødvendig for entydig identifikasjon av personer, og utveksles via en kryptert kommunikasjonskanal mellom det sentrale låneregisteret og det enkelte bibliotek."
